Our Physicians

Dr. Philip M. Falcone received his undergraduate
degree from Fordham University and his medical degree
from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical
Center. He graduated with honors and was named to the
prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society.
He then completed his ophthalmology residency training
at the St Luke’s/Roosevelt Medical Center of Columbia
University, and retina fellowship training at the Massachusetts
Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. |

Dr. Wayne I. Larrison received his undergraduate
degree and a Masters of Science degree from the Columbia
University School of Engineering where he was named to
the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. He then received his
medical degree from the University Of Florida College
Of Medicine, where he was named to the prestigious Alpha
Omega Alpha medical honors society. Next, he completed
his ophthalmology residency training and his retina fellowship
training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of
Harvard Medical School. Dr. Larrison then came to Connecticut
where he founded the Connecticut Retina Consultants. |

Dr. James M. Weisz received his undergraduate
degree Summa Cum Laude from Harvard College where he was
also named a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society
and a Harvard National Scholar. He then attended the Columbia
University College of Physicians and Surgeons graduating
as a member of the prestigious medical honors society
Alpha Omega Alpha and receiving both the Sandoz award
and the Edith and Denton McKane memorial award for outstanding
scholarship and research. |
He then continued his medical training
in Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute of the University
of California at Los Angeles. This was followed by fellowship
training in uveitis also at the Jules Stein Eye Institute
for which Dr. Weisz was supported by a Heed Foundation Fellowship.
Then Dr. Weisz completed specialty training in medical and
surgical retinal diseases at the Wilmer Eye Institute of the
Johns Hopkins Medical School; this time supported by a Heed/Knapp
foundation fellowship.
Drs. Falcone, Larrison and Weisz are Assistant Clinical Professors
at the Yale School of Medicine where they participate in the
Department of Ophthalmology teaching program. They each are
active attendings of the surgical staff at Bridgeport Hospital,
Yale-New Haven Hospital, the Hospital of St. Raphael, and
the West Haven VA medical center. They are actively involved
as principal investigators in several national studies looking
into new treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy,
retinal venous occlusive disease, and uveitis. They are all
board certified and are members of the American Society of
Retina Specialists, the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians,
the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Uveitis
Society, the American Medical Association, the Connecticut
State Medical Society, The Fairfield County Medical Association,
The New Haven County Medical Association, and numerous honor
societies. They strive to provide the highest quality medical
treatment with caring, compassion and an ongoing commitment
to medical excellence.
Connecticut Retina Consultants participates
with all major insurance companies including Medicare, Blue
Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut and New York, Healthnet,
Aetna/US HealthCare, ConnectiCare, Oxford, United Health Care,
Cigna care and others.
